Accordia Board Member Appointed to President’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS

January 15, 2009:  Donald A. Holzworth, Accordia Board Member and Chairman of Futures Group International, has been appointed to the President’s Advisory Council for HIV/AIDS (PACHA).

PACHA was formed in 1995 to provide the President and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services expert council on the promotion of services to prevent HIV disease and to advance research on HIV/AIDS.

The advisory council consists of 21 individuals who agree to serve a four-year term. Members are selected by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from authorities with particular expertise in, or knowledge of, matters concerning HIV/AIDS.

Mr. Holzworth has been assigned to the International Subcommittee, whose activities influence international HIV/AIDS policy as conducted by the United States Government. PACHA will have a major influence in 2009 as the Obama administration considers how the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and other governmental resources can best be used to combat HIV/AIDS around the world.

Holzworth has spent his entire 33-year career supporting and guiding public and private-sector efforts to improve human health through research, product development, and public health services. He joined the Accordia Board of Directors in 2007 to further his commitment to fighting infectious disease in Africa through training, research, care and prevention.

"Don brings an important global perspective on HIV/AIDS plus the business experience necessary to translate good ideas into practical solutions on the ground that will be of great value to the President's Advisory Council" said Warner C. Greene, MD, PhD, President of the Accordia Global Health Foundation. "We wish Don great success in this important work."
